The Beginning of HB Workspaces

Work alone. Together.

HB Workspaces came from a bit of a lightbulb moment… and a realisation that working life had quietly changed more than we probably realised.

I’ve spent most of my career in busy city centres—proper offices, good people, a bit of buzz about the place. Then Covid came along and like many of us, work moved home or into shared spaces.

I actually loved the shared office setup. The flexibility, the energy, the mix of people—it just worked.

But after moving house, I lost access to that… and suddenly it was just me, my laptop, and the spare room.

Now don’t get me wrong—I’m fine in my own company. But work isn’t just about getting the job done. It’s also about the little things:

The coffee chats.
A quick walk at lunchtime.
Actually speaking to another adult before 3pm.
Christmas jumper day that involves more than just you and a mirror.

And that’s when it clicked.

An office became available at 295 Hesketh Lane. It had loads of potential—but it was far too big just for me. My team mostly work remotely and only pop in now and again.

Around the same time, a friend mentioned using their home address for Companies House… and all the pennies dropped.

Why don’t we create something different?

Not just a workspace—but a place where people can work alongside others. Quietly, calmly, sociably.

Because the truth is—it doesn’t really matter what you do. Whether you’re running a business, freelancing, studying, or side-hustling…

It’s about getting people sociable again.

Not three-piece suits and corporate nonsense—
…but maybe brush your hair, get out the house, and feel like you’ve gone to work again.

What We’re Building

Workspaces are designed to be flexible, simple, and actually useful.

To start with:

Hot desks – turn up, plug in, crack on

Shared workspace – calm, professional, no pressure

Pay-as-you-go – no long contracts, no faff

More Than Just a Desk

We’re building a community, not just filling seats.

We’ve got a Community Manager creating a monthly calendar of events, so whether you’re here occasionally or all the time, you can dip in as much or as little as you like.

Think:

Coffee mornings ☕

  • Walk-and-talk lunches 🚶‍♀️
Seasonal bits (yes, Christmas jumpers included) 🎄
Informal networking without the awkward name badges
No pressure. No forced fun. Just options.

The Bigger Picture

This isn’t just about desks and Wi-Fi.

It’s about feeling part of something again.
About having a reason to leave the house.
About building a routine that actually works for you.

Get out the house. Get back your spark.
